Garden Media Guild Awards 2021 – Columnist of the Year/Dr Hessayon Award

I was delighted to be in the list of Finalists for the third time in 2021 – the other years being 2014 and 2016. It is very satisfying to learn that, even after ten years of writing the same column in The Horticulture Week my work was still held to be of a sufficient standard to be in the running for this prestigious National Award.

The Judge’s comments were particularly gratifying;

Arriving at the shortlist for this category was a tough wrangle with some excellent columnists just missing the cut. But we felt that the five nominees shared something in common: a compelling enthusiasm for their subject that leaps off the page and carries the reader along.

The Winner was the brilliant Roy Lancaster.

Great to see Marie Shallcross also made the Finals with her excellent Blog work. Marie is a main-stay in The Landscape Library (Sages & Gurus Section) in which she covers many topics relating to General Gardening, with some great hints ‘n’ tips!

A massive ‘Thank you’ to all concerned.

Alan
